Flying Lizard Fan Activities at Sebring: New Team Info and Gear Center Opens
March 17, 2009 -- Flying Lizard Motorsports invites fans to visit the new team info and gear center in the paddock this week at the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring. The center will be open at most races on the ALMS circuit this year, starting with the season-opener at Sebring, which gets the green flag at 10:30 am Eastern Time on Saturday March 21. This an expansion of the pilot program Flying Lizard launched with the American Le Mans Series last year to create a dedicated location in the paddock for fans to get the latest Flying Lizard team information and merchandise.
"We received so much positive feedback from fans on our pilot program that we made the decision to open the center again this year. Starting with Sebring, the center will be co-located with the team in the paddock at most 2009 ALMS races. Being part of the team presentation gives our fans an additional opportunity to see the action up close. Our fans can stop in for the latest session results, the current edition of the team newsletter, The Daily Reptile, and maybe score a driver autograph or a rundown on car prep from the engineers," said Paul Pillitteri, director of the Flying Lizard merchandise division. Team gear will also be available at Sebring through Flying Lizard resellers Wine Country Motorsports and Monaco International and through the online store.
In addition to the team info and gear center, Flying Lizard drivers will sign autographs during the ALMS autograph session on Friday from 1:00-2:00 pm ET and Flying Lizard strategists Thomas Blam and Eric Ingraham will host a tech talk, open to all fans, at 4:00 pm ET on Friday, March 20. On race day, fans can listen to Flying Lizard team radio and read race details on the team blog; for more info go to www.lizardms.com.
"Making the paddock area accessible to fans has always been central to the American Le Mans Series' mission," said Annamae Meigher, American Le Mans Series director of merchandising. "Having more fan resources available in the paddock enhances the race experience for everyone. We're pleased to work with Flying Lizard again in 2009 to make this program possible."
