Key Factors at Petit le Mans Team Perspective
  • High speed, high-incident track
  • Prototype speed and size of field
  • Very strong GT2 field
  • GT2 Championship could be decided
Chief Strategist Thomas Blam
"Road Atlanta is a fast, difficult track. There are a lot of blind corners and with the speed of the prototypes and the size of that field, it will be very challenging to avoid trouble here. In the past, other than our win here in 2007, we have had a tough time here. This year, we have one of the highest car counts ever. There are more than 20 prototype entries - and the P2 championship is very close so they have a lot on the line at this race. Our challenge is to keep our cars safe, yet still race to win. Everyone in every class will have to be on their toes to manage traffic and this is a very difficult track to do that."

"In GT2, there's a very high level of competition right now. We expect Tafel, Risi, and Farnbacher to run up front as they have over the season. JMB Ferrari has also been extremely quick out of the box here at their first ALMS race, and PTG Panoz team also has a strong lineup and an experienced team. And the new entries to the class, such as the Corvette, are also showing their speed. I would say this is probably one of the best overall GT2 fields that I've ever seen at this race."

No. 46 Strategist Eric Ingraham
"Petit Le Mans will be a race of attrition.By the end of the race, it can come down to just a few cars who have been able to make it through the nine plus hours. You have to walk a fine line on strategy at a race like this. You need to be aggressive and use the advantages that you can, but at the same time, be thoughtful about taking care of the car. Running a 1000-mile race at sprint pace is very tough - for the teams, the drivers and the cars. And a course like Road Atlanta can be a lot less forgiving of mistakes. Just looking at the number of incidents in our first practice session on Thursday gives you an idea of how the race could play out. So much of doing well here is how you react to problems and how prepared you are to solve them quickly."
