Flying Lizard Motorsports Overcomes Early Setback to Score Double Podium at Barber

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (September 29, 2026) —Colorado MotorSport with Flying Lizard overcame an unconventional start to the weekend at Barber Motorsports Park to earn a pair of podium finishes in Pirelli GT4 America and two more podium results in GT America powered by AWS.

Following an incident during GT4 America practice, the team was forced to adapt its weekend plans, utilizing its GT America BMW M4 GT4 EVO for the remainder of the event across both series. The change meant Craig Lumsden was sidelined for much of practice, qualifying while the team prepared the car for double duty.

Despite the added challenge, the No. 413 Colorado MotorSport with Flying Lizard BMW delivered two strong recovery drives in GT4 America, with Zach Lumsden and Kris Wilson finishing third in class in both races.

Race One
Wilson qualified the No. 413 fifth in class for the opening race of the weekend and immediately began moving forward once the green flag fell. In the opening 10 minutes, he gained four positions overall and moved up one spot in class before a full-course caution interrupted the early running.

Following the restart, Wilson closed the gap to the No. 21 of Michael Garcia, getting within three-tenths of a second as the pit window approached. With much of the field electing to stop, Wilson stayed on track to take advantage of the clean air before making the team’s driver change late in the window.

Lumsden emerged from the pit cycle in second and quickly found himself in a spirited side-by-side battle with the No. 36 BMW of James Clay. He remained firmly in the fight through the second half of the race, delivering consistent laps and bringing the No. 413 home third in class to open the weekend with a podium.

Race Two
Lumsden started the second race seventh in class, beginning a charge that would ultimately see the No. 413 gain 12 overall positions overall on its way to another podium.
On the opening lap, Lumsden passed the No. 37 of Ed Killeen to move into sixth in class and continued working his way toward the cars ahead. He brought the BMW into pit lane on lap 16, handing driving duties over to Wilson.

As the stops cycled through, Wilson immediately went to work gaining track position. With 25 minutes remaining, he had broken into the top five in the Am class and continued his charge with a pass on the No. 188 of Judson Holt.
A full-course caution several laps later tightened the field and brought Wilson within striking distance of the No. 17 of Joseph Catania. Wilson capitalized to secure third place, completing a 12-position overall gain from the start and sealing a double-podium weekend for the No. 413.

GT America powered by AWS
After starting Saturday’s opening race as the team managed the demands of running the BMW across both championships, Craig Lumsden retired the first race early but was still able to take the class win scoring maximum points. He returned to competition for Sunday’s 40-minute GT America race after the car was brought back into GTA spec from the day before after racing in the the GT4 class.

Starting first in the GT4 class, Lumsden settled into second following the opening corners behind the No. 11 of Zachry Lee. With the priority on completing a clean race after an already demanding weekend for the car and crew, Lumsden maintained a steady pace through the remainder of the contest and brought the BMW home second in class, adding another podium finish to the team’s Barber weekend.

With Barber complete, just two races remain on the 2026 calendar. Flying Lizard Motorsports and Colorado MotorSport face a quick turnaround before heading to Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the season-ending doubleheader, October 8–11.
