PHOENIX, Ariz., (June 17, 2026) – Colorado MotorSport and Flying Lizard Motorsports faced one of the most demanding weekends of the season at Road Atlanta, competing across six races in three different championships as temperatures soared during the midpoint of the SRO America season. The weekend featured strong performances from the team’s BMW and McLaren programs, highlighted by podium finishes, multiple top-five results, and continued championship contention heading into Road America later this summer.

McLaren Trophy America
The No. 29 McLaren opened the weekend with an impressive charge through the field in Race One. Starting 17th overall and eighth in class, the duo of Philip Ploskas and Johnny O’Connell steadily worked their way forward while avoiding several incidents in the opening corners. An early full-course caution and a drive-through penalty for the class leader helped shake up the order, allowing the No. 29 crew to capitalize. The team continued to gain ground throughout the second half of the race, ultimately finishing fourth in class after advancing six positions from its starting spot.

The No. 413 McLaren also enjoyed a productive Race One with Zach Lumsden. Starting 14th overall and seventh in class, Lumsden immediately moved forward on the opening lap and remained in the fight throughout the race. Following the pit cycle, Lumsden climbed into the top five and brought the car home fifth in class.

For Race Two, the No. 29 started third in class, while the No. 413 Colorado MotorSport with Flying Lizard car lined up ninth. An off-course excursion in Turn One dropped the No. 29 to the rear of the field early, but the team quickly mounted an impressive recovery drive to return to the top five within just a few laps. A full-course caution compressed the field before the pit window opened, creating opportunities throughout the field.

In the second half of the race, Lumsden restarted the No. 413second in class and spent the closing stages locked in a battle for a podium position. Despite intense pressure and multiple push-to-pass exchanges, Lumsden secured a third-place class finish. The No. 29 fought back from its early setback to finish eighth after recovering from a spin while battling through traffic in the second half of the race.

The No. 610 BMW endured a challenging weekend in the Georgia heat. Craig Lumsden qualified second in class for Race One and fought for contention early before a mechanical issue forced the team to retire the car before the finish. Race Two saw Lumsden once again start second in class. Despite battling difficult conditions throughout the race, he continued to collect valuable championship points. As the only driver to compete in every GT America race this season, Lumsden leaves Road Atlanta still leading the GT4-class championship by 58 points.

GT4 America
The No. 413 BMW continued its consistent season with a pair of top-five finishes. In Race One, Zach Lumsden qualified ninth in class and immediately gained positions at the start, passing the No. 5 and No. 17 machines during the opening laps. Following the mid-race pit stop, Kris Wilson took over the BMW in seventh position. A late full-course caution brought the field back together, allowing Wilson to continue his charge. He passed the No. 30 with six laps remaining and advanced to fourth place by the checkered flag.

Race Two began with Wilson starting third in class. He remained in a tightly contested battle throughout the opening stint before the pit sequence elevated the No. 413 to the class lead. Zach Lumsden took over the BMW under caution and rejoined in third position for the run to the finish. When racing resumed, Lumsden delivered a strong defensive drive, fending off sustained pressure while maintaining a podium position. A late-race challenge from Frankie Muniz ultimately dropped the BMW to fifth in the closing minutes, where it would finish. The result keeps Lumsden and Wilson tied for fourth in the GT4 America AM championship standings as the season heads toward its final stretch.
