July 30, 2005 — Portland, OR — The Flying Lizard Motorsports squad had their third podium finish of the ALMS season at today’s Portland Grand Prix, with the two Flying Lizard Porsche 911 GT3 RSRs finishing 3rd and 7th in GT2. Johannes van Overbeek and Jon Fogarty brought the Flying Lizard No. 45 into 3rd from a 4th place start. Lonnie Pechnik and Seth Neiman brought sister car No. 44 into 7th place.

With track temperatures rapidly climbing throughout the afternoon, teams faced a slippery, greasy track for the 2 hour and 45 minute race. Multiple cautions, on-track incidents, and heavy traffic made it a challenging event for the entire field.

Jon Fogarty, who drove the No. 45 for the second half of the race, commented, “I was very happy with the car during my stint. I was able to make some additional adjustments in the cockpit during the race, and it was the best it had been all weekend. The setting sun made it challenging to see, especially in the brake zone for the Festival Curves and the entry to Turn 1. Johannes did a great job in his stint – the track conditions early in the race were tough. This was a solid finish for us- it’s great to be back on the podium.”

Seth Neiman added, “The No. 44 was very well balanced for the entire race. Lonnie was running strong for his starting stint- he got up to speed quickly and maintained it throughout. I was able to hold steady for the rest of the race and, even with the traffic and the sun it was a lot of fun. Thanks to the crew for another great race.”

Up next for the Sonoma-based GT2 team is Road America on August 21st.
