Oct. 16, 2004 — MONTEREY, Calif. — The Flying Lizard Motorsports squad ended the 2004 American Le Mans Series on a high note with third and 10th place GT-class finishes in the season finale. The team’s No. 45 Porsche of Johannes van Overbeek and Darren Law finished the season third in class and the No. 44 car of Lonnie Pechnik, Seth Neiman, and Jon Fogarty took the checkered flag 10th in GT.

van Overbeek and Law completed the season second in GT in the Drivers’ Championship. The first-year team finished second in GT in the overall team championship and won the IMSA Cup Championship for the highest ranking privateer team in the GT class.

van Overbeek commented on the last race of the season: “The rain added an exciting element in the last 30 minutes of the four-hour race; combined with complete darkness it was a challenging end to the race. Finishing second in class in championship points in our first year was unanticipated, but we worked extremely hard to make this happen. I’m so proud of everyone for making this possible.”

Teammate Neiman added, “We chose to join the ALMS because we knew that to grow as a team we needed to face the best competition in the world. It has been an exciting and competitive year, even beyond what we hoped for. I could not be prouder of the team and its accomplishments, from the strong, consistent finishes of the 45 Porsche to the increasing competitiveness of the 44 car over the season. I’d like to thank every Lizard for their commitment this year, they all gave a tremendous amount and it showed.”
