May 22, 2005–Lexington, OH — In an action-packed race, the Flying Lizard Motorsports No. 44 Porsche finished sixth and the No. 45 placed seventh in GT2 at today’s American Le Mans at Mid-Ohio. The No. 44, driven by Lonnie Pechnik and Seth Neiman, had a very strong race. The No 45, driven by Johannes van Overbeek and Jon Fogarty, battled throughout the race for second and third place. Unfortunately, during the last 15 minutes, the right front tire of the No. 45 failed due to a puncture and the car was unable to continue, ending hopes of a podium finish.

Pechnik commented, “We had a very strong run in this race. There was a lot of action early on and the GT2 field stayed fairly tight. It was an exciting run, including a fun battle with the Alex Job Racing 23 Porsche for the lead. Seth brought the car back in securely after his solid stint. We’re both pleased with the result.”

For the No. 45 car, “the end result was obviously disappointing for everyone on the team,” said Fogarty, who took over driving duties halfway through the race from van Overbeek. “We worked hard all weekend and the car was there on occasion, but we had a tough time overall. Johannes had a great start, moving quickly from fourth to second. After a long fight with the Petersen/White Lightning 31 Porsche we were running a comfortable third when the problem at the end took us out of the running.”

Up next for the Lizards is the 24 Heures du Mans, June 18-19 in Le Mans, France. The next ALMS contest will be the New England Grand Prix at Lime Rock Park on July 4.
