ELKHART LAKE, Wis. (September 1, 2026) — Flying Lizard completed a busy six-race weekend at Road America with strong performances across McLaren Trophy America, Pirelli GT4 America, and GT America powered by AWS. The team battled changing weather conditions throughout the weekend, earning podium finishes across its programs while continuing to strengthen its championship campaigns.

Pirelli GT4 America
Race One
Kris Wilson put the No. 413 Colorado MotorSport with Flying Lizard BMW M4 GT4 EVO on the front row for the opening GT4 America race, qualifying second before taking the lead from the No. 36 BMW of James Walker Jr. in the opening stint. Wilson controlled the early stages and maintained a gap at the front despite a tightly packed field behind him. Frankie Muniz in the No. 30 gradually closed the distance before a full-course caution slowed the race with approximately 50 minutes remaining.

When racing resumed and the pit window opened, much of the field immediately came in for driver changes, while Wilson and Muniz remained on track to take advantage of the clear circuit. Muniz moved ahead late in the stint before making his stop, returning the lead to Wilson. With 24 minutes remaining, Wilson handed the BMW over to Lumsden, who rejoined at the head of the class. As the tires came up to temperature, the No. 413 briefly slipped back before Lumsden settled into a strong rhythm among the competitive field.
With 13 minutes remaining, Lumsden returned to the lead and positioned the No. 413 for a run to the finish. The No. 30 again closed in during the final minutes, ultimately moving ahead and leaving Wilson and Lumsden to secure a strong second-place finish.

Race Two
Heavy rain created another challenge for Sunday’s second GT4 America race, with Lumsden taking the green flag from sixth. While the treacherous conditions caught out several competitors, Lumsden kept the No. 413 clean and steadily worked through the opening stint. A significant incident brought out a full-course caution shortly before the pit window, allowing the team to complete its driver change under yellow. Wilson took over and joined the field fifth in class, with the No. 30 again among the cars ahead.

After an extended caution period, racing resumed with only a handful of laps remaining and visibility at a premium. Wilson immediately went on the attack, making his way past Muniz to move into second place during an intense sprint to the finish. The pair continued to trade positions in the closing laps before Muniz moved back ahead shortly before a race-ending caution froze the running order. Wilson crossed the line in second place, completing another competitive run for the No. 413, though an incident between Wilson and another competitor resulted in an unfortunate penalty for incident responsibility that dropped the No. 413 from second to eighth place.

Craig Lumsden continued his successful GT America campaign with a sweep of the GT4 class at Road America.
With the No. 413 Colorado MotorSport with Flying Lizard BMW standing as the weekend’s sole GT4 entrant, Lumsden focused on maximizing both races and bringing the car safely home through Road America’s challenging and frequently changing conditions. He successfully completed both races to collect a pair of class victories and the maximum championship points available, further extending his advantage in the GT4 standings as the season moves toward its final rounds.

McLaren Trophy America
Race One
Saturday’s opening McLaren Trophy America race began on a chilly, wet Road America circuit, with Zach Lumsden starting the No. 413 Colorado MotorSport with Flying Lizard McLaren Artura Trophy Evo fourth in the Am class. Philip Ploskas lined up sixth in Am and second in the Papaya Cup aboard the No. 29 Flying Lizard Motorsports entry.

Ploskas was spun in the opening corner but quickly recovered and rejoined the field as the race remained green. Ahead, Lumsden wasted little time moving forward, climbing to second in class in the opening laps while joining a three-car fight for sixth overall. As pit stops began around the halfway mark, Ploskas handed the No. 29 over to Johnny O’Connell shortly before a full-course caution slowed and bunched up the field. Following his own stop, Lumsden rejoined third in class and went back on the attack, passing the No. 812 of Keegan Massey to reclaim second. Lumsden brought the No. 413 home with a strong second-place Am finish and an impressive fourth overall. The No. 29 finished fifth in the Am class while securing third in the Papaya Cup.

Race Two
O’Connell delivered a standout qualifying performance for Sunday’s second race, putting the No. 29 McLaren on pole position by just 0.043 seconds. Lumsden qualified the No. 413 fifth in the Am class. From the drop of the green flag, O’Connell controlled the race from the front, maintaining the overall lead throughout his stint before turning the car over to Ploskas with 20 minutes remaining. Lumsden again found himself battling among Pro-Am competitors and held his own as he worked his way into podium contention. When a late full-course caution brought the field together with fewer than five minutes remaining, the No. 413 was fighting for third in class. Lumsden crossed the line in the third position before a post-race five-second penalty for incidental contact adjusted the final classification. Ploskas and O’Connell advanced to third, also taking the win for Ploskas in the Papaya Cup.

The Road America weekend showcased the strength and consistency of the Flying Lizard Motorsports and Colorado MotorSport programs, with the team contending at the front across McLaren Trophy and GT4 America while adding valuable points to its championship efforts. The team next races GT4 America and GT America at Barber Motorsport Park, September 24-27.
