Flying Lizard Motorsports Signs eSilicon as Corporate Sponsor
SONOMA, CA — June 3, 2004 — Flying Lizard Motorsports announced today the addition of its third corporate sponsor for the team’s 2004 season in the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) of sports car racing. eSilicon, a manufacturer of custom chips for leading technology companies, will sponsor the team as it fields two 2004 Porsche GT3 RSRs through the remaining eight races of the 2004 series. The distinctive eSilicon “curved S” logo will be proudly featured on the cars at the next ALMS event, American Le Mans at Mid-Ohio, to be held at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, June 25–27 in Lexington, Ohio.
“We are delighted to have eSilicon as our valued sponsor. It’s gratifying to receive such strong corporate support during our first full ALMS season,” said team principal and driver Seth Neiman. “Technology plays a very important role in this racing series. The sports cars are some of the most technically sophisticated in the world and appeal to a tech-savvy audience.”
“We are pleased to sponsor Flying Lizard as the team progresses in the ALMS. The promotional opportunity for eSilicon is tremendous as we focus on building awareness of our brand name and quality services,” added Jack Harding, Chairman, President and CEO of eSilicon.
Flying Lizard Motorsports is a new team on the scene of the American Le Mans Series of sports car racing. At the team’s first race in 2004, they achieved a pole qualifying position in the Rolex 24 at Daytona and a close second-place finish at the event. The team is managed by six principals, including drivers Johannes van Overbeek, Lonnie Pechnik, and Seth Neiman; chief engineer Craig Watkins; crew chief Tommy Sadler; and team manager Eric Ingraham.
“We are honored to have sponsors such as eSilicon,” added van Overbeek. “When we are at the track, we are focused on executing against a specific plan of attack. The generous support of our sponsors allows us the luxury of added testing and preparation as we develop our plan for each race.”
The team has made some substantial progress since its first appearance at Daytona in February. With three technology industry sponsors, ShoreTel, eSilicon and Brocade, a tire partnership with Michelin, and a newly constructed shop at Infineon Raceway, the team is establishing a solid foundation today for the years of competition ahead.
