September 4, 2005 — Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada — Flying Lizard Motorsports’ No. 44 finished fourth in GT2 at Mosport today, their best finish since the car began racing in 2004. With just 45 minutes left to go, and third in GT2 at the time, the team’s No. 45 Porsche was retired from the race due to engine failure.

It was an exciting contest with numerous on-track incidents which affected the front-runners in nearly every class. The No. 44 ran a very strong race. After qualifying on Saturday for the first time, Seth Neiman started ninth on the GT2 grid and kept a solid pace during his hour and a half stint. He then turned the wheel over to teammate Lonnie Pechnik. Pechnik, who had injured his right hand Saturday morning, was able to complete the race and finish fourth in GT2, moving through the field with lap times close to the GT2 leaders. “This is our best finish ever. It was a lot of fun to go all out for my stint and make up for not being able to drive on Saturday. The No. 44 setup was perfect for the track; thanks to the crew and Seth for all of their hard work to get to such a fast car.”

Despite the success of the No. 44, it was a disappointment to have the No. 45 out of competition in the race today. Johannes van Overbeek started fifth in GT2, and worked quickly up to third, which he held comfortably for his 90 minute stint. He then turned the wheel over to Fogarty. “It was unfortunate. In the fifteen minutes I had in the car, I was focused on keeping the fast pace times that Johannes had set. We were running strong in third and had such a good race up until the engine failure. I also want to thank the No. 45 team. Once again, they pulled out all the stops to get us a competitive Porsche. We didn’t get a chance to fully show our stuff today but there are two races left to go. Look for us at Petit!”

The team had announced earlier today that they will donate all prize winnings from today’s race to the Salvation Army’s Hurricane Katrina relief effort. Don Panoz, founder of the ALMS, and his wife Nancy will personally match team contributions to the fund.

Up next for the California-based squad is Petit Le Mans, Saturday October 1, in Atlanta, Georgia.
