June 15, 2006, 10:00 pm–Circuit de la Sarthe, Le Mans, France–Flying Lizard Motorsports announced this evening that driver Johannes van Overbeek will not run in this evening’s practice (qualifying) sessions for the 24 Heures du Mans. Earlier today, van Overbeek was involved in a minor bicycle accident near the circuit. He suffered minor abrasions and bruising and required some stitches. ACO medical personnel agreed that van Overbeek would rest tonight instead of participating in this evening’s practice sessions. The team expects him to be able to participate in the Drivers’ parade on Friday and the race on Saturday, as planned.

Co-drivers Patrick Long and Seth Neiman are running this evening’s practice session. As of the end of the first session (7-9 pm), Long has the second-fastest GT2 qualifying time of 4:05.266.
