Lakeville, CT — July 3, 2004 — In scorching heat at Lime Rock today, Flying Lizard Porsche #45, driven by Johannes van Overbeek and car #44, driven by Lonnie Pechnik, qualified 8th and 9th in the GT class, respectively.

van Overbeek, coming off of the team’s first GT-class win last week at Mid-Ohio, said “We feel that we have a great car for the race, but did not get the qualifying performance that we wanted. It’s difficult to pass here, so unlike most ALMS races, qualifying position can make a real difference.”

The #44’s 911 GT3 RSR got back on track Saturday: the crew built it from scratch in only 2 1/2 days. Long hours by the crew and great support from key suppliers, especially Porsche, were the key ingredients in a remarkable accomplishment. This caps a tough 8-day week for the team, who also built a 911 GT3 RS in 12 hours last week at Mid-Ohio.

“The entire team has worked so hard to get us running again–Seth and I are amazed and appreciative. The new car is performing well, though I feel certain I could have improved our start position if I had had just a little more setup time,” said Pechnik.

“We had a tough week,” said Paul Truess, car chief of #44. “We’re happy that we’ve been able to get the new RSR ready so quickly; everything is new on the car with the exception of dashboard, wiring, and windshields. Everyone has given us a lot of credit and we are proud of this–but we really wanted to see it run Friday. And no, it’s not a new look — we have not yet had time to paint the car–just look for the Lizard.”
