LEXINGTON, OH — June 25, 2004 — Entering their first race since Sebring in March, the Flying Lizard team is starting the American Le Mans at Mid-Ohio race this weekend with a solid foundation based on three months of preparation. In their first season of ALMS racing, the team is fielding two Porsche 911 GT3 RSRs in competition. Johannes van Overbeek and Darren Law are driving Porsche # 45 and Lonnie Pechnik and Seth Neiman are driving Porsche #44.

During the first GT practice session today, van Overbeek and Law were fastest in the GT class with a lap time of 1:23.705. “The car is very good,” said Law. “The team has done an unbelievable job of developing it since Sebring.”

During the same practice session, Pechnik and Neiman set the session’s third-fastest time of 1:24.774 and were performing well until the car was involved in an accident with a Lamborghini. Neither driver sustained injuries, but the Porsche #44 was damaged beyond repair and will be replaced by the team’s 2003 Porsche RS.

“When I saw the Lamborghini with two wheels off the track on the fast downhill, I moved as far right as possible,” said Pechnik. “The Lamborghini came across the track and took us into the guardrail. It really is a shame; the team worked extremely hard to prepare #44 and did a spectacular job. The RS will not be quite as competitive but we are looking forward to getting back on track on Saturday.”

Tommy Sadler, team crew chief commented on the team’s focus, “The last three months have been a very intensive period of preparation focused on team operations. Based on our experience at Sebring in March, we’ve learned a lot about what it will take to be competitive in the series, and have been working hard to get ready for that challenge.”
