March 15, 2007 — Sebring, Florida — Flying Lizard Motorsports qualified third and twelfth in a large GT2 field today for Saturday’s Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring. Joerg Bergmeister brought the No. 45 Flying Lizard Porsche into third, with the No. 31 Petersen/White Lightning Ferrari in second and the No. 62 Risi Ferrari taking the pole. In the No. 44, Darren brought the car into twelfth place.

This is one of the largest class fields in ALMS history with 18 of the total 34 cars competing in GT2 alone. 9 Porsches, 5 Ferrari F430s, 3 Panoz Esperantes and a Spyker C8 Spyder will run in the historic twelve-hour race.

Joerg commented on the session, “This morning, I was pretty happy with the No. 45. We had a bit of understeer in the slow-speed corners and were working on fixing that before qualifying. Unfortunately, with the warmer temperatures and the changes, we couldn’t get quite where we wanted to be for the qualifying session. But in general we were the fastest Porsche and that’s a good sign. We have to work a bit more on race setup over the final two sessions and see where we are.”

Chief engineer Craig Watkins commented on the No. 44. “We’re still working on our race setup and used the qualifying session to make more changes. We have to keep in mind it’s a long race and starting position is important but not critical. At this track, there are good passing opportunities and most likely there will be a number of yellow flags which can make a big difference in the outcome.”

Joerg Bergmeister and Darren Law will start Saturday’s race in the No. 45 and No. 44, respectively. The race begins shortly after 10 am ET on Saturday, March 17 and will be broadcast on SpeedTV. ALMS radio and live timing and scoring is available at americanlemans.com.
