May 10, 2013 – Monterey, California – In today’s 15-minute qualifying session for the American Le Mans Monterey race, Spencer Pumpelly claimed the 4th spot on the class grid in the No. 45 Flying Lizard Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car, with Dion von Moltke taking the 6th spot in the sister No. 44 for tomorrow’s 4-hour race. Seth Neiman will turn his first race laps since last year’s Petit Le Mans as he takes the start in the No. 45, with Pierre Ehret starting the No. 44. The No. 44 will race with a two-driver lineup of Dion and Pierre with the No. 45 adding Nelson Canache Jr. along with Spencer and Seth.

Spencer described the qualifying results, saying “The guys did an awesome job putting a strong car underneath me for qualifying and it would have been nice to find another tenth or two, but I’m much more interested in our race pace which I think we’ve done a good job of dialing in over the weekend.”

Dion was also focused on race pace, adding “We took a good step setup-wise immediately before qualifying, and the car is the best it’s been all weekend. We were able to run multiple laps within a tenth of a second of one another during qualifying, which bodes well for the race and is what you need really, especially on a low grip track that typically is inconsistent over the course of the race with all of the dirt and sand which is dragged onto the track. I think we are in good shape for tomorrow’s race.”

The 2013 American Le Mans Monterey gets the green flag at 3:30pm PT on Saturday, May 11th. The race will be broadcast live on ESPN3 and ALMS.com on Saturday, May 11th from 3:15pm to 7:45pm PT, with tape delayed race coverage on ESPN2 on Sunday, May 12th from 1:00pm to 3:00pm PT. Internationally the race will be broadcast live on ALMS.com from 3:15pm to 7:45pm PT, with tape delayed race coverage on MotorsTV on Sunday, May 12th.
