Portland, OR — July 24, 2004 — In blistering 100 degree temperatures, Lonnie Pechnik put the No. 44 Flying Lizard Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 RSR in fourth position in the GT class during the qualifying session for Sunday’s Portland Grand Prix. Pechnik qualified the No. 44 Porsche with a lap time of 1:14.387 on the 1.944-mile road course.

“The high track temperatures were a factor for everyone today. It caused the track to lose grip, making the car move around more. My co-driver Seth Neiman did a great job working with the crew to find the right setup; the car feels very well-balanced,” said Pechnik. Neiman will start the two-hour, 45-minute race tomorrow.

Johannes van Overbeek, driving the No. 45 Porsche with Darren Law, will start from seventh position in class. “We also started with a good qualifying setup on the car that maximized grip,” added van Overbeek. “The crew has given us a very good race car; we hope to run a clean race tomorrow.”

The two-car team holds the lead for GT Drivers’ points after three consecutive podium finishes, including a second-place GT finish last weekend at Infineon Raceway.
