February 3, 2005–Daytona Beach, FLORIDA–Johannes van Overbeek put the No. 75 Flying Lizard Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car in fourth position in the GT category during today’s qualifying session of the Grand American Sports Car Series Rolex 24 at Daytona. Joining van Overbeek in the No. 75 Porsche for this weekend’s race are Jon Fogarty, Lonnie Pechnik, Seth Neiman and Patrick Long. The Sonoma, California-based team finished second in the GT category and third overall in the same race in 2004.

“The team did a good job prepping the car for qualifying and I think we have a strong car. The GT class is very competitive this year and top GT track times are close; anything can happen during a 24-hour period,” said van Overbeek of his qualifying session. “I’m looking forward to driving this evening to get a sense of what the night conditions will be like during the race.”

“We had some issues with a fuel fitting early in the morning practice session but the crew got everything sorted out and we ran a strong session this afternoon,” crew chief Tommy Sadler added.

The 24-hour race gets the green flag on Saturday Feb. 5 at 12 p.m. Eastern Time. The Rolex 24 at Daytona will be broadcast live on SPEED Channel in segments. Coverage times are February 5, 12 to 7 p.m. and 8 to 11 p.m. Eastern Time and February 6, 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m Eastern Time.
