September 24, 2004 — BRASELTON, Ga. — Johannes van Overbeek put the No. 45 Flying Lizard Porsche 911 GT3 RSR in second position in the GT class during today’s qualifying session of the American Le Mans Series Petit Le Mans with a lap time of 1:23.438 on the 12-turn, 2.54-mile road course at Road Atlanta. The team’s No. 44 Porsche, driven by Lonnie Pechnik, qualified seventh in GT class.

“This is the most competitive GT class so far this year. The 16-car GT field is a great showing here at Petit, but it means more traffic, which made it difficult to get a clean lap in qualifying. I’m pleased with how the Porsche is handling, the Michelin tires performed well, and the crew has done another excellent job in getting us ready for a long race tomorrow. In a 10-hour session, a lot can happen and this will be a test of all of our skills and endurance,” said van Overbeek.

The 16-car GT field this weekend includes additional European teams that travel to compete at the Petit Le Mans, to take part in one of the premier endurance races in North America. The 10-hour, 1,000 mile race will be broadcast live on SPEED Channel on Saturday, September 25 beginning with a pre-race show at 11:30 a.m. Eastern Time. The race will get the green flag at 12 p.m. Eastern Time. The ALMS Radio Web will have live coverage of the race online at www.americanlemans.com. The race will also be broadcast live in Europe by MotorsTV.
