Oct. 15, 2004 — MONTEREY, Calif. — Darren Law put the No. 45 Flying Lizard Porsche 911 GT3 RSR in third position in the GT class during today’s qualifying session of the American Le Mans Series Audi Sports Car Championships on the 11-turn, 2.238-mile road course at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. The team’s No. 44 Porsche, driven by Lonnie Pechnik, qualified seventh in GT class.

“It’s been several years since I’ve driven this track — I had forgotten how nice it is to drive. The team did a great job prepping the car for qualifying and it showed. The GT class is highly competitive and we’re all very close in our track times. I’m looking forward to driving the track at night. We still have a shot at the championship but it will require a flawless race. We need to stay out of trouble and finish strong in our last race of the season,” said Law.

Teammate Pechnik added, “This was a tough session. Although we had only made a few changes to the car since this morning’s session, it reacted very differently. Laguna Seca is very sensitive to the heat and can change at a moment’s notice. The track grip changes a lot and coupled with wind and dust, it’s a really difficult track to dial in with the perfect set up.”

Audi Sports Car Championships will get the green flag at 4 p.m. Pacific Time on Saturday, Oct. 16. NBC will broadcast the race on Sunday, Oct. 17 at 2 p.m. The ALMS Radio Web will have live audio coverage at www.americanlemans.com. The race will also be broadcast live in Europe by MotorsTV, beginning at midnight UK Time.
