Following a forgettable result at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in the third round of the 2013 American Le Mans Series championship, Flying Lizard Motorsports again returns to the racetrack for next week’s American Le Mans Northeast Grand Prix at Lime Rock Park. The team has enjoyed great success at Lime Rock in the past, with five class wins and three second place finishes in its nine years of racing at the track.

Nelson Canache Jr. (Venezuela) and Spencer Pumpelly (USA) will again team up in the No. 45 Venezuela / eSilicon Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car and will enter the race weekend sitting in third place in the Drivers’ championship. The sister No. 44 PR Newswire / eSilicon car will be driven by Seth Neiman (USA) and Dion von Moltke (South Africa), with Dion just outside the top-10 in the championship and looking to move up the standings. These same driver pairings will continue through the next six rounds of the ALMS championship as the series moves through the heart of its schedule with those races taking place in only fourteen weeks.

Thomas Blam, chief strategist, talked about the particular challenges of Lime Rock Park, saying “Lime Rock is a very short track at only a mile and a half in length, which means that quite a bit can be accomplished, quickly, as far as setup goes. However, this weekend is a very compressed schedule, similar to Long Beach, with two hours of practice and qualifying on Friday and the race itself on Saturday. So we will need to hit the ground running in order to get the drivers familiarized again with the track and complete all of the setup work in just those two Friday practice sessions. We are coming off of a very successful and informative test at our home track of Sonoma Raceway this month and hope to apply a lot of what we’ve learned to the cars for Lime Rock and the coming races. It’s also certainly a big benefit to have our driver lineup held consistent for those races so that we can work together to maximize our race effort.”

The 2013 American Le Mans Northeast Grand Prix gets the green flag at 3:05 ET on Saturday, July 6th. Qualifying will be broadcast live on ESPN and ALMS.com on Friday, July 5th from 4:25pm to 4:50pm ET. The race will be broadcast live in the United States on ESPN2 and internationally on MotorsTV on Saturday, July 6th, from 3:00pm to 6:00pm ET, with live online coverage on ESPN3 and ALMS.com as well.
