Flying Lizard Ready for ALMS Round Seven at Mid-Ohio

July 17, 2007 — Lexington, OH — Flying Lizard arrives today at Mid-Ohio for ALMS round seven: the 2007 Acura Sports Car Challenge, on Saturday July 21. The Flying Lizard squad is fresh from last week’s win at Lime Rock, the first win of the season for the Flying Lizard No. 45 Porsche of Johannes van Overbeek and Joerg Bergmeister. van Overbeek and Bergmeister now lead the ALMS drivers’ championship points chase, followed closely by Jaime Melo and Mika Salo in the No. 62 Risi Ferrari. At Mid-Ohio, van Overbeek and Bergmeister will again team in the No. 45, and Seth Neiman and Lonnie Pechnik will pilot the Flying Lizard No. 44 Porsche.

“Mid-Ohio has been good to us in the past — we’ve had fast cars and some good luck here with two GT2 wins in three years,” said Lizard chief strategist Thomas Blam. “But we’re only at the halfway mark in the championship and there’s a long way to go yet. The GT2 competition is fierce and I’m sure the Ferrari/Porsche GT2 battle has quite a few chapters left to go.”

van Overbeek added, “I think everyone is relieved to be out of the Lime Rock bull ring — it’s a great course but such a high consequence track! At Mid-Ohio we have a larger field than usual for the race with a new entry in GT2 and some additional prototypes and having a longer, more forgiving course will definitely be an advantage.”

Race Details
The 2 hour and 45 minute race starts at 3:15 p.m. ET Saturday, July 21. The race will be broadcast on CBS Sports on Sunday July 22 at 2 pm ET. Flying Lizard will broadcast team radio communications live during the race. For more info, see www.lizardms.com
