March 17, 2007, 6:40pm ET — Sebring, Florida — Just past the hour 8 mark, the No. 45 is now in the lead in GT2, followed closely by the No. 62 Ferrari in 2nd. The No. 44 Flying Lizard Porsche, which spent 90 minutes in the garage early in the race to replace the left rear suspension, is back on track in P 16.

It’s nearing dusk in Sebring after a near perfect day for racing — clear, breezy, low humidity and moderate temperatures.

It’s been an unusual race — many incidents across the field but just four full course cautions so far and no red flags. Of the 18 GT2 cars entered in the race, 15 are still running. The most recent withdrawal is the No. 32 Petersen White Lightning Ferrari, which had an engine fire on track. The driver was able to pull off safely and appears to be fine.

Continuing our Sebring update with hour 5, just past 2 pm Eastern time, the No. 45 has played a cat-and-mouse game with the No. 62 Ferrari, the two cars pulling away from the field and running just seconds from each other, with the No. 62 in the lead until the most recent pit stop in which the No. 45 beat the No. 62 out of the pits to take the lead. Currently, the No. 45 Porsche and the No. 62 Ferrari are the only two GT2-class cars on the lead lap, 4 laps up on 3rd place, the No. 71 Tafel Porsche.

Meanwhile, Darren, Seth and Lonnie have continued to focus on keeping the No. 44 on track. All was going well until 6:00 pm ET, when Lonnie reported a problem which appears to be a broken coil pack. The crew was able to replace the part quickly in the pits and Darren is again underway.
