July 4, 2005 — Lime Rock, CT — TOn the Fourth of July, Flying Lizard Motorsports brought their two Porsche 911 GT3 RSRs into third and seventh positions in GT2 today at the New England Grand Prix. The 2 hour 45 minute race on the 1.54 mile course was marked by four yellow cautions and multiple on-track incidents and some unusual course situations. Starting from eighth position on the grid, Johannes van Overbeek and Jon Fogarty finished on the podium, third in GT2. Teammates Lonnie Pechnik and Seth Neiman finished seventh from a seventh place GT2 grid start. Race photos will be available in our web site photo gallery.

“The race was challenging for everyone given the number of cautions, the debris and oil on the track, and the number of multi-car on-track incidents,” said crew chief Tommy Sadler. “Luckily, both cars were able to mostly stay out of the fray and keep a consistent pace throughout the race.”

Fogarty, who took over driving duties in the No. 45 Porsche from Johannes van Overbeek for the last two-thirds of the race, said “The No. 45 was performing well today. We ran a very consistent race. Most of the credit goes to the team for making it possible for us to be on the podium today.”

“This was an exciting race. Like the No. 45 we were consistent on track and both Seth and I had good stints,” added Pechnik, who drove the No. 44 with teammate Seth Neiman, who started the race. “This was definitely a tough course to navigate. We were able to keep a reasonable pace and the car was running strong, thanks to the crew’s work over the last few days. It was pretty exciting to do our fastest race lap in the last few minutes of the race.”

The team returned just two weeks ago from Le Mans, France, where they took third in GT2 in the 24 Heures du Mans endurance race in the team’s No. 80 Porsche, manned by Johannes van Overbeek, Lonnie Pechnik, and Seth Neiman.

Next up for the team will be Infineon Raceway, Sunday July 17, in Sonoma, CA.
