SONOMA, CA — December 30, 2003 — Flying Lizard Motorsports today announced it will run a 12-race season in the GT class of both the American Le Mans Series and the Grand-American Rolex Sports Car Series.

The Flying Lizard team will run all nine American Le Mans Series races, plus the three longest races of the Grand-American Rolex Sports Car Series events — the Jan. 31-Feb. 1 Rolex 24 At Daytona, and six-hour races at Mont-Tremblant and Watkins Glen.

The team will race a Porsche 911 GT3 RS in the Grand-Am series races.

A pair of 2004 Porsche 911 GT3 RSRs will be entered in the American Le Mans Series.

A driver lineup for both series was also announced.

Johannes van Overbeek and Darren Law will drive one of the new Porsches in the American Le Mans Series, while Lonnie Pechnik and Seth Neiman will race the other car.

In the Grand-American Rolex series, van Overbeek will join Pechnik, Neiman, Peter Cunningham and Mike Rockenfeller at the Rolex 24; van Overbeek, Pechnik and Neiman will share the Porsche for the other two Grand-American Rolex series races.

This is a very ambitious schedule,” said van Overbeek, one of the team’s principals, “but the only way for us to grow as a team is to run against the very best, and to race everywhere we can.”

In addition to van Overbeek, the team’s other principals are drivers Pechnik and Neiman, plus Team Manager Eric Ingraham, Crew Chief Tommy Sadler, and Chief Engineer Craig Watkins.

The team also announced two primary partners, Shoretel, Inc., and Brocade Communications Systems, Inc. Shortel, Inc., is the specialist in enterprise IP voice systems. Brocade Communications Systems, Inc., is the leading provider of networked data storage systems through their Brocade SilkWorm® switches and software. The team has also added Michelin as a partner. “Tires are the foundation on any race car. Having the product and technical support from Michelin will help us get the most out of our Porsche RSRs in the coming year,” said Chief Engineer Craig Watkins.

Johannes van Overbeek is an eight-year professional road racing veteran. He has competed in eight Grand-Am events and 18 in the American Le Mans Series, winning one time in each series. He has also competed in 28 SCCA Speed World Challenge GT Championship series events, winning three times, and placed third in the 2001 season points.

Darren Law is the 2001 GT class champion in the Grand-American Rolex series, finished second in 2002, and in 2003 was sixth in the new Daytona Prototype class.

Lonnie Pechnik and Seth Neiman are new to ALMS racing, but competed in three Grand-Am Rolex series races last year. They, along with van Overbeek, won their professional racing debut at the Watkins Glen six-hour, then finished second in their other two Grand-Am events at Mont-Tremblant and Daytona, where Van Overbeek earned the team’s first pole position.

Cunningham is a six-time SCCA Pro Racing series champion. His 75 race wins far exceed the career total for every driver in all North American professional series since 1963.

Rockenfeller, 20, was a karting champion in Germany at age 12. At age 19, he became the youngest driver to win a Porsche Supercup race, and the youngest to lead the Porsche Carrera Cup standings.

Look for the distinctive silver and red Flying Lizard livery throughout 2004.
