July 16, 2005 — Sonoma, CA — In scorching heat with track temperatures reaching 127 degrees, Flying Lizard Motorsports qualified their two Porsche 911 GT3 RSRs 3rd and 7th in GT2 for Sunday’s Infineon Grand Prix. Lonnie Pechnik qualified the No. 44 third on the grid in this afternoon’s qualifying session. In the No. 45, teammate Jon Fogarty qualified seventh. Sunday’s 2 hour and 45 minute race on the 2.53 mile course will be round five of the 10-race American Le Mans series season.

Crew chief Tommy Sadler said, “Based on our experience at Lime Rock earlier this month, we’re working on a new setup for both cars for this race. We’re happy with the setup of the No. 44. Unfortunately, we just aren’t yet where we need to be with the No. 45.”

The No. 44 had consistent practice sessions with few problems. “The crew once again pulled out all the stops to make the car so solid. They worked extremely hard to complete a gearbox change and an engine change on the No. 44 late last night,” said Pechnik. “I think there’s more we can get out of the car and setup; we’ll see how the race unfolds.” Pechnik will share driving duties during the race with teammate Seth Neiman.

Fogarty added, “During the practice sessions today we were still several seconds off of the leader’s pace. It’s frustrating to have the right setup continue to elude us but we’ll do everything we to make it happen in the race tomorrow.” Fogarty’s teammate in the No. 45 is Johannes van Overbeek.
