SONOMA, Cali., (April 2, 2024) – Flying Lizard Motorsports is revving up for this weekend as the 24-time professional sports car racing champions begin a five-car effort in three different series in SRO America’s season-opening event. The Lizards will celebrate their 20th anniversary with formidable entries in the Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS, the GT America powered by AWS, and the Pirelli GT4 America series. The team will be racing both GT3 and GT4 Aston machinery alongside a Nissan GT4 entry.

The event will also mark the last time the team races at Sonoma Raceway as a local team, as they continue the transition to a new facility at Apex Motor Club in Phoenix, Arizona. After 20 years at Sonoma Raceway, Flying Lizard Motorsports will condense their various shops to a central location, eagerly waiting for construction to be finalized at the new state-of-the-art facility.

“This will be an emotional weekend for our team coming to Sonoma as it will be our last ‘home race’ at the facility that was our home for the past 20 years,” said Program Manager Darren Law. “As we continue our move to our new facility in Arizona, we look to close this chapter in our history with a strong run this weekend and look forward to beginning the 2024 season. We have several new cars this year in both GT3 as well as GT4, so there has been a bit of a learning curve in the off-season. Because of the competitiveness of this series, we spent quite a bit of time over the winter testing and learning and we are ready to get started.”

This season, Elias Sabo and Andy Lee step up into the premier series, piloting the No. 8 Aston Martin Vantage GT3 in the Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS. Transitioning from two successful seasons in the GT4 America series, where they emerged as championship contenders in the GT4 America Pro-Am class, Sabo and Lee elevate their game to the GT3 arena, setting their sights on championship glory. This transition brings an extended race time of 90 minutes, coupled with a maximum drive time of 50 minutes per driver.

Reigning GT America champion Jason Bell embarks on a new challenge this season, climbing from the GT4 class to GT3 with his No. 2 Aston Martin Vantage GT3. His impressive track record, boasting two wins and 13 podium finishes last season, positions him as a contender in the bronze-only series.

After closing out the season with a one-off race with Flying Lizard Motorsports at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Todd Parriott is bringing back his No. 13 Aston Martin Vantage GT4 for another season in GT America, aiming to replicate the success of the 2023 GT America team champions. He’ll get double the track time this season, as he will also enter another entry in the Pirelli GT4 America championship alongside Todd Parriott.

With two entries in the Pirelli GT4 America championship, Flying Lizard Motorsports has a strong footing to defend their 2024 team title. Todd Parriott and Tom Dyer will return for a full-season assault on the championship, racing a second No. 13 Aston Martin Vantage GT4.

Damir Hot and Stefan Rzadzinski have also joined the squad for a full-season effort, racing the No. 5 Nissan Z GT4. Their entry marks the first time the traditional Flying Lizard livery has graced a Nissan and will be sure to be a favorite amongst the fans in the duo’s rookie season in the GT4 series.

Flying Lizard Motorsports’ comprehensive lineup will produce plenty of action for their fanbase throughout the season, beginning with this weekend’s activities at Sonoma Raceway.
