July 2, 2007 — Sonoma, Calif. — Flying Lizard is off to Lime Rock Park this week for the New England Grand Prix, July 7. The team has just returned back to the U.S. after three weeks in France for their third consecutive 24 Heures du Mans. The Lizards are looking forward to being back in familiar ALMS territory after a disappointing race at Le Mans: the Flying Lizard No. 80 Porsche was out of the running less than halfway through the 24 hour race due to a mechanical failure. The No. 80, which ran a custom livery at Le Mans, will return to its regular silver and red ALMS livery for the remainder of the season as the team’s No. 45 Porsche.

The New England Grand Prix marks the halfway point of the 12-race ALMS season. Johannes van Overbeek and Joerg Bergmeister will drive the No. 45 Flying Lizard Porsche and Seth Neiman and Darren Law will pilot the No. 44 Porsche. Johannes and Joerg are currently in second place in the ALMS GT2 drivers’ championship — 14 points behind Mika Salo and Jaime Melo in the No. 62 Risi Ferrari. Wolf Henzler and Robin Liddel of Tafel Racing’s No. 71 Porsche are in third place, nine points behind Johannes and Joerg.

Johannes commented on the upcoming race, “Although we weren’t able to finish at Le Mans, the No. 80 Porsche was the fastest GT2 car during the 10 hours we were on track. We need to take what we learned at Le Mans and bring it into play here, but tuned for Lime Rock’s unique track conditions. Going from the 8.5 mile course at Le Mans to Lime Rock’s narrow, 1.54 mile track is always a bit of a shock — from the longest distance track lap of the year to the shortest! The No. 45 has finished on the podium here three years running, but we have yet to win here — let’s see what Saturday has in store in GT2.”

The 2 hour and 45 minute race will begin at 3:05 p.m. Eastern Time, Saturday, July 7, 2007 and will be televised on CBS Sports (tape-delayed) on Sunday July 8 at 1 pm Eastern Time. Flying Lizard will broadcast their radio communications live during the race. For more info, see www.lizardms.com
