August 16, 2011 – Sonoma, Calif – With four races left to go in the nine-race American Le Mans Series season, defending GT driver champions Joerg Bergmeister and Patrick Long are currently seventh in the standings in the No. 45 Flying Lizard Porsche, with 36 points. Teammate Seth Neiman is tenth in the No. 44 Flying Lizard Porsche. Neiman will be joined by Marco Holzer this weekend for ALMS round six: the Road Race Showcase at Road America. Holzer is twelfth in the drivers’ championship. Dirk Mueller and Joey Hand of the No. 56 BMW lead with 90 points. Flying Lizard is fourth in the team championship.

Flying Lizard chief strategist Thomas Blam commented, “This has been one of the most frustrating seasons so far for the Lizards in the ALMS. The No. 45 has run up front at nearly every race, but we have only one podium to show for it. We just have to keep shaking off the bad luck and stay focused. We are still fighting for the GT championships and for Porsche in their contest for the manufacturer title. There are 100 points still possible: 25 each at Road America and Laguna, 20 at Baltimore and 30 at Petit Le Mans.”

Flying Lizard chief engineer Craig Watkins added, “Although we haven’t seen the results we expected this year, we’ve had competitive racecars at nearly every track. At a circuit like Road America, it’s always an engineering challenge to get the Porsches race-ready. It’s a fast track with a combination of long straightaways and high-speed turns. We’ll take the approach to set up the Porsches to be as good as possible in the turns. This requires a downforce balancing act: compromising slightly on straight line speed to make sure the Porsches are very stable under braking and into the turns so the drivers can get every advantage out of the corners.”
