Patrick Long Qualifies the No. 45 Fourth in GT; No. 44 12th
May 11, 2012 – Salinas, California – Patrick Long qualified the No. 45 fourth in GT today for Saturday’s American Le Mans Series Monterey race at Mazda Raceway Laguna with a time of 1:22.919. Teammate Seth Neiman was twelfth in the No. 44. Porsche factory drivers Joerg Bergmeister and Marco Holzer will join Long and Neiman for tomorrow’s race in the No. 45 and No. 44 Porsches, respectively.
Long commented on the session, “Our plan was to run three timed laps; those three laps were clean and I was really happy with our pace. We came off the track in P1, and ultimately we ended up P4. To be P1 for that run on the track was a great accomplishment after some challenging days of practice this week. We’re dealing with a new aero package and have had to reestablish a balance for everything from tire pressures to spring rates. It’s a lot to get through in a small amount of time. It is an incredibly close field this year: some of the best GT racing in ALMS history has been here at Laguna Seca and all signs point to it being another fantastic race.”
The No. 007 Aston Martin is on the GT pole.
