Sonoma, CA — July 16, 2004 — Flying Lizard Motorsports returns to their home track this week for the fourth round of the American Le Mans Series, the Infineon Grand Prix of Sonoma, July 16-18. Johannes van Overbeek and co-driver Darren Law will return to the No. 45 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR. Law and van Overbeek will be joined by teammates Lonnie Pechnik and Seth Neiman who will share driving duties in the team’s No. 44 Porsche.

The team has had a solid first three races in the ALMS, with first and second place GT-class finishes at the second and third rounds of the American Le Mans Series season. Law and van Overbeek currently lead the GT Drivers’ Championship points.

Neiman’s perspective on the team’s few races in the ALMS, “This is a development year in which our focus is to build a strong, competitive team. We are obviously pleased with our performance so far, but we also realize that it’s a combination of hard work, luck, and circumstance that has brought us here. We are up against some very strong competition, and expect them to ratchet up the pressure even more.”

“It’s great to be back home after several weeks on the road. Infineon is an exciting circuit–2.53 miles and many fast corners–and it has become our home. It will be nice to have a dry track after the rainy weather at Lime Rock, but the heat is definitely going to be a factor for everyone this weekend,” added van Overbeek. “The GT class is very competitive; we expect Alex Job Racing to do well, the Ferrari has just come off a win at Lime Rock and this is a good track for the Panoz team to be highly competitive.”

Pechnik offered some thoughts on the race weekend. “We’re really happy to have the No. 44 RSR on the track again. June was a tough month for the car after an incident at Mid-Ohio. The crew has done a tremendous job getting the car back in working order and race-ready for this weekend. I really enjoy driving at this track and hope that we reach our full potential this weekend.”
